Just returned from the Opimg_1442en House at Adornments.  Finally got to meet Laura, Alexis and Lucinda from Adornments.  The Grays from Gray Photography were there (adorable couple with amazing work!)  I met Charlie Thompson, who makes incredible titanium and wood rings.  Schakolad was there with their amazing chocolate confections.  I met Ashley Carter from Ashley’s Bride Guide.  She is so cute and it’s easy to see why her site is so popular.

All in all, a great afternoon to show people what I do.  If you missed it, here’s a picture of my display.  Visit the blog often.  I’ll be updating with new things shortly!

img_1315img_1314 Beautiful!  This vintage dress is most likely dupioni silk, although there was no tag to indicate.  I measure this as a size 6, and it fits the size 6 mannequin almost perfectly!  Measurements are approximately 32 bust, 26 waist, and 35 hips for the dress.  This beautiful gown features whiteappliques over a sheer layer and ivory silk (?).  Lower back zips close, and upper bodice fastens by nice, covered buttons.  This dress is in great condition, but I would suggest having it dry cleaned before wearing, unless you plan to cut off a couple of inches of length, because there is some dirt along the hemline from being tried on/worn.  This dress is a bargain at $129.00!  As always, contact me at sherry_george@comcast.net to purchase!

img_1211This vintage dress is divine and reminds me of something vintage, although isn’t that old.  Has beading all over, and would pack extremely well for a destination wedding.

I took this out of the box and hung it up and the wrinkles fell out immediately.  I’m offering this size 14 dress for $149.

The lining has some stretch to it, so it possesses some forgiveness on the fit!  Forgiveness is so nice!  Measures about 39″ at the chest.  As always, contact sherry_george@comcast.net to inquire or purchase!

img_1255img_1254This gorgeous gown is by SCOTT McCLINTOCK.  New, no tags, off white lace gown and is priced at $89.

Lace over matte satin, which features 0ff shoulder construction, polyester fabrics, back zipper closure (that is hidden as it passes through a ‘knot’—see photo), with a stole-like swath of chiffon that enchances the shoulder line.  It has a floret in the front, and in the back, assumes the shape of a knotted bow with a watteau train that extends 3/4 of the total gown length.  The hemline has a 3 inch trim of scalloped lace.

Princess styling with a sweep of over 160 inches in the lace layer and over 100 inches in the satin layer.  There is another lining layer under the satin which is acetate. img_12561img_1253

Manufacturer recommends dry cleaning as needed.  Garment measures 36″ bust;  30″ waist;  40″ hips;  and 45″ from the bottom of the underarm to the hemline.  The hemline is even, all around.  Great dress for a garden wedding, cruise wedding, or second wedding.  As always, contact sherry_george@comcast.net to purchase this beautiful gown!

img_11911img_11912This vintage wedding dress is from the House of Bianchi and dates to the 1960’s.  I’m pleased to offer this stunning dress for $109. The beads and sequins are sewn on.  Boston’s House of Bianchi went out of business in 2001 but was previously considered a premier maker of beautiful, elegant custom dresses.  In fact, Courtney Cox(Monica) wore a House of Bianchi wedding drimg_1192ess on the TV show Friends when she married Chandler in 2001. It is rare to find a dress that is both a small size but long enough for a tall woman.

The bustline measures 34″ and the waistline measures 26″.  According to size charts, the dress would be considered a size 4-6.   From the shoulder to end of hem, the dress measures a lengthy 58″.  A shorter woman could, of course, easily have this dress hemmed.  The dress is a soft ivory shade.

The dress is in wonderful condition.  The front of the dress is fitted and adorned with lace covering the chest.  The back of the dress is cut much lower, but not to the waist. The sleeves are voile in the wispy, butterfly style.

There are three layers to the full skirt: voile, netting and fabric.  The beads are tiny cultured pearls(man-made) and sequins are sewn into the lace flower centers.  The style is the classic princess design and is exceptionally flattering.  This dress cost several hundred dollars in the early 1960’s and is easily today still an heirloom item to be passed through generations.  Contact sherry_george@comcast.net to purchase!

img_1118img_1119Another vintage find!  This one has all the qualities of a very old dress, with the lacey bodice, juliet-type sleeves, empire waistline, high victorian-style neckline, and long, flowing train edged in lace.   However, it is in excellent shape.   Be sure to click on the pictures to see more detail.  I’m offering this dress for $109.  I believe the 26″ waist means it’s between a 6 and 8.  However, it was too snug on my size 8 mannequin to close at the bust and hips.  I would say it’s closer to a six in “bridal speak”.  The fabric is unique in that it’s not the typical satin.  It feels like a crepe.   I’ll try to dig out more information and add it later.  This dress has lots of possibilities for a Victorian-style ceremony.  Nice soft ivory color.
